Investment-based crowdfunding with Sony Bank GATE
Providing a platform that combines empathy and investment

Sony Bank manages Sony Bank GATE, an investment-type crowdfunding platform that connects companies taking on new business challenges with individuals who empathize with their cause and want to support them. Many of the companies that engage in crowdfunding seek to solve social issues, and customers who support their cause and underlying reasons for establishing the business can play a key role in this effort by way of investment.

Since the launch of the program in August 2017, we have received support from many customers and reached 50 funds by November 2023, with the total contribution amount exceeding 1 billion yen. There are many challenger companies that are implementing activities related to the SDGs, and through Sony Bank GATE, we support the realization of a sustainable society.

Many of our customers have invested in challenger companies by emphasizing their business activities and the stories behind them, and the investments and comments of such customers have been a strong encouragement to the companies.

Donating to an NPO for every child's bank account opened

From February 2022, Sony Bank has donated 100 yen for every account opened for a child under the age of 15 to Specified Nonprofit Corporation Houkago NPO Afterschool (hereinafter referred to as "Houkago NPO Afterschool") to support the potential of children, and help them overcome the challenges they will face in the future. By opening an account for a child under 15, customers can support this program in addition to the Project for Forest Conservation in Sumatra.

Community Contribution Activities

Chiyoda Volunteer Club

Sony Bank is a member of the Chiyoda Volunteer Center in Tokyo, where our employees volunteer on their days off. We have also introduced a matching gift system whereby donations are made to volunteer organizations based on the number of hours that employees volunteer.

Health keepers

One of the benefits of working at Sony Bank is being able to access the services provided by health keepers. Health keepers are nationally licensed massage therapists who work in-house at companies and other organizations and provide massages for employees as a way to ensure they stay healthy. The fees paid by employees for using health keeper services help fund volunteer activities planned by Sony Bank or are donated to the Chiyoda Volunteer Club.
