Authentication

One-time password token

A One-time password token is a password generator that allows secure authentication with a one-time, unique password. You will need your token to complete your first sign-in to our English online banking and later on when completing important procedures, such as making new fund transfers, changing your registered information, etc.

You can have up to two active tokens.

If you have lost your token

If you have lost your token, please sign in to our English online banking and temporarily suspend your token by reporting it as lost via our "Reporting a Lost Token" page.

You can also contact our English help desk to report a lost token.

After you have suspended your token, you will need to order a new token.

If your one-time password is not accepted

If you are unable to use your one-time password as an authentication method, it may be related to your token's synchronization with Sony Bank systems.
If you use your token on a daily basis, there should not be a need to synchronize it. However, if you have not used it for some time, a time lag might occur that requires you to synchronize your token.

To synchronize your token, please go to our "Synchronizing Token Time" page after signing in to our English online banking.

If you are still unable to use your one-time password as an authentication method after you have synchronized your token, please contact our English help desk.

Token expiration

The token is battery powered and, thus, has a limited lifetime. If your token's battery drains below a certain level, you will need to have your token replaced.

If "bAtt" is displayed on the token's screen

If you press the red button on your token and "bAtt" is displayed on the token's screen before the one-time password is displayed, your battery will expire soon. When this message is displayed, please have your token replaced.

The number (01-09) indicates the percentage of the remaining battery level.
(E.g. "bAtt" 09 = 9% battery left)

Even after the expiry date has passed, you can still use your token until the battery level indicator is displayed.

How to check the expiry date of your token

Sony Bank assigns an expiry date set based on the battery's expected lifespan. If this expiry date has passed, please apply for token replacement.
To check the expiry date of your token, please go to our "One-time Password Token Settings" page after signing in to our English online banking.
