Sony Bank Inc.

Sony Bank will migrate to a new system during 2025 as part of our efforts to improve our services. In order to prepare for the migration to the system, we will conduct system maintenance during the following period, and our services will be suspended.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

System maintenance period
November 2, 2024 (Sat) 12:00 AM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST
Some services of Sony Bank WALLET will be available.
Services to be suspended
In principle, all services such as ATMs, the Open Account app, online banking, and website browsing will be suspended.
Please refer to "Notes on individual products and services" for details.
Our requests to customers
Please make sure to make deposits and withdrawals at ATMs or by fund transfers prior to the service is suspended. Please allow sufficient time to complete your transaction, since it may not be possible to complete the transaction prior to service suspension due to magnetic card defects or incorrect passwords.
In addition, some services will be suspended prior to the system maintenance period. Please refer to the Notes on individual products and services for details.

Notes on individual products and services

Account opening

From October 31, 2024 (Thu) 2:00 PM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST, we will not be accepting applications to open an account through our Open Account app.

Card replacement

From October 31, 2024 (Thu) 5:00 PM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST, card replacement requests will be suspended.

Fund transfer

The following are the suspension periods for fund transfers between other banks and Sony Bank.

  • Fund transfers from Sony Bank to other banks
    Immediate fund transfers: Approximately from November 1, 2024 (Fri) 3:00 PM to November 5 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST.
    Scheduled fund transfers:Approximately from November 1, 2024 (Fri) 11:59 PM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST.
  • Fund transfers between Sony Bank accounts
    Approximately from November 1, 2024 (Fri) 11:59 PM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST.
    Fund transfers scheduled for a specific date during the system maintenance period will be deposited on the specified date, so please confirm after the service resumes.
  • Fund transfers from other banks to Sony Bank
    Approximately from November 1, 2024 (Fri) 3:00 PM to November 5 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST.
NOTE
Fund transfers made into Sony Bank accounts from other banks during the system maintenance period and immediately after its completion will be processed sequentially after the service resumes. Please be advised that it may take some time for the funds to be deposited into your account.

ATM

The service will be unavailable from November 1, 2024 (Fri) 11:50 PM to November 5, 2024 (Tue) 5:00 AM JST.

Sony Bank WALLET

You can use your Sony Bank WALLET (cash card with Visa Debit functionality) for shopping during the system maintenance period. However, the transaction is handled differently than usual.

  • You can only use your Sony Bank WALLET up to your account balance as of 11:59 PM on November 1, 2024 (Fri) JST. Please ensure your account balance is sufficient and, if necessary, please arrange a deposit into your account prior to the system maintenance period. (Updated on October 23, 2024)
  • Visa Debit PIN inquiry is not available. Please make inquiry in advance.
  • Visa Debit transaction history inquiry is not available.
  • Visa Debit usage limit settings are not available. Please review your settings and make any necessary changes before the system maintenance period. (Updated on October 23, 2024)
  • Email notifications of your card usage will not be sent every time. Instead, email notifications will be sent all at once after the system maintenance period ends. Please note that the order of the transactions and the order of email delivery may differ. If the card usage is not available, an email notification will be sent each time as usual.
  • Please note that the date of withdrawal from your account may differ from the date of the transaction during the system maintenance period.

During the system maintenance period, we will continue to accept telephone inquiries regarding lost or stolen cards, tokens, etc., or unauthorized use. The telephone numbers and other details will be provided when you access our website during the system maintenance period.

FAQ

#1:The timestamp of my debit card transaction during the system maintenance period does not match the date in my transaction history.

A:This is due to scheduled system maintenance during the period of November 2 through 5. This may cause the timestamp to reflect differently from the actual transaction date.

#2:On November 5, I received email notifications for Sony Bank WALLET usage between November 2 through 5.

A:This is due to scheduled system maintenance between November 2 through 5.
We have resumed sending notifications on November 5. Please note that email notifications may not be in the same order as your transaction.

We plan to perform similar system maintenance in the future. We will notify you on our website or by email.
