Outgoing Foreign Currency Remittance

Outgoing Foreign Currency Remittance Application Process

STEP 1Beneficiary Pre-registration

Before making an Outgoing foreign currency remittance, you must register pertinent details regarding the beneficiary, as well as the purpose of your remittance. Please sign in to our English online banking and follow the pre-registration procedures from our "Preparing for an Outgoing Foreign Currency Remittance" page.

Content verification
After you have completed your pre-registration, Sony Bank will verify the details.
You may need to submit additional documents for verification. If so, Sony Bank will send further instructions to your registered email address.
Please refer to our Verification Documents page for more details.
Important notes on pre-registration and content verification
  • If you plan to remit funds between your Sony Bank account and your own overseas bank account, you will need to pre-register your overseas address, country name (country of residence), and your Taxpayer Identification Number in your home country, through the "Tax Residency Form for Remittance". To make such remittances, please contact our English help desk.
  • You may register up to a total of 10 remittance destinations in and outside Japan.
  • The remitter's name must be the account holder's name as registered with Sony Bank.
  • Depending on the results of our verification process, we may decline your pre-registration.
  • The time it takes to complete your pre-registration may vary due to our verification process. Depending on the information required for our verification process, you may be asked to revise the remittance limit or other details of your pre-registration.
  • If Sony Bank has requested more information for verification purposes, and has not received the requested information after one month, your pre-registration will be canceled.
  • Approximately three to ten business days after you submit your application and our verification process is complete, you will receive an email from Sony Bank notifying you that the remittance details were successfully registered.
  • The completion of pre-registration does not guarantee successful execution of the remittance.
  • Remittances that exceed the "Number of remittances per year" or "Maximum remittance amount per year" declared at the time of pre-registration will not be accepted.
  • In principle, pre-registrations are valid for one year from the date of completion. After the expiration date has passed, we will cancel your pre-registration.
"My Number" Submission

In order to apply for pre-registration, you must submit your "My Number" (Individual Number).
Please follow the procedure from our "My Number" Submission page after signing in to our English online banking.

If you are making an Outgoing foreign currency remittance to a financial institution located in Japan, you do not need to submit your "My Number."

STEP 2Remittance Application

Please complete the procedure on our "Application of Remittance" page after signing in to our English online banking.

After you have submitted a remittance application and the remittance has been executed by Sony Bank, you will be able to check the status of your remittance on our "Foreign Currency Remittance - Transaction History" page after signing in to our English online banking.
