What is the Individual Number (My Number) system?
The Individual Number (My Number) system was launched in January 2016. The system is used to efficiently manage information in the areas of social insurance, taxation, disaster relief, and to confirm that personal information held by multiple agencies belongs to the same person. It was established as a social infrastructure to improve administrative efficiency, increase convenience for citizens, and ensure a fair and just society.
Sony Bank requires customers to provide their Individual Number (My Number) for investment trust transactions (service only available in Japanese), FX margin trading (service only available in Japanese), and Incoming/Outgoing foreign currency remittances.
In addition, since the implementation of the Numbering of deposit account system, which links customer information on deposit accounts with the account holders' Individual Number (My Number), from January 2018, we are requesting that all customers who have a deposit account with us submit their Individual Number (My Number). We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
In accordance with the "Act on the Registration of Deposit and Savings Accounts" and the "Act on the Management of Deposit and Savings Accounts", which had taken effect in April 2024, customers, based on their consent, will be able to link their Individual Number (My Number) and register Public Money Receiving Accounts, at multiple financial institutions.

While processing your application, we will confirm your personal information, such as your name, address, etc. If you have any changes to your registered information, please update it via the "Updating Customer Information" page after signing in to our English online banking prior to applying.
Transactions and other activities that require Individual Number (My Number)
We ask customers to provide us with their Individual Number (My Number) prior to making any transaction, etc., that requires an Individual Number (My Number) to be included in statutory documents submitted to the tax office by financial institutions.

Submitting your Individual Number (My Number)
With your Individual Number Card (My Number Card) and smartphone on hand, submit your Individual Number (My Number) via the ""My Number" Submission" page after signing in to our English online banking.
Please refer to our "e-NINSHO Procedures" page for the procedure of registering Individual Number (My Number).
If you do not have either an Individual Number Card (My Number Card) or a smartphone, you must complete the procedure with a written application form. If you wish to request the Notification of Individual Number form to be mailed to you, please contact our English help desk.
Numbering of deposit account
Numbering of Deposit Account System is the system to provide your Individual Number (My Number) to financial institutions. By linking your Individual Number (My Number) to your deposit account, it will be possible in the future to locate your deposit accounts at a single financial institution in the event of inheritance or disaster.
Please read and agree to the following details regarding the numbering of the deposit account:
- In the event of a disaster or inheritance, the account holder's Individual Number (My Number) shall be used to enable the account holder or his/her heirs to receive information regarding the deposit accounts.
- The account holder’s Individual Number (My Number) shall be used to identify the account holder’s deposit accounts in procedures based on the provisions of the Income Tax Law, the Public Assistance Law, the Deposit Insurance Law, and other laws and regulations.
- If the account holders wish to have their Individual Number (My Number) linked to another financial institution(s), that financial institution shall use the Individual Number (My Number) to manage all the deposit accounts owned by the account holder in their name.

Effective April 2025, the application is also available through financial institutions. If you wish to apply via Sony Bank, you must complete the procedure with a written application form after submitting your Individual Number (My Number) to Sony Bank.

Notification of the application

In the event of a disaster, customers who have linked their My Number to their deposit accounts can check your account information (only those linked to your MY Number) at financial institutions entrusted by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan.
Since Sony Bank does not have a manned branch, please visit a branch of a financial institution that will accept the request.Customers residing in the area of a municipality where the disaster occurred as stipulated in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Disaster Relief Act as of the date of occurrence of the disaster are eligible.
- Account inquiry upon inheritance

In case of an inheritance, customers who have linked their My Number to their deposit accounts may request for account information of the decedent through other financial institutions (only those linked to their My Number). If you wish to make an account inquiry through Sony Bank, the heir should contact us and provide the name and date of birth of the decedent. We will ask you about the status of your inheritance and guide you through the specific procedures and necessary documents.
A fee of 5,060 yen (including tax) per account will be charged for account inquiries at the time of inheritance.
We will suspend deposits and withdrawals from the decedent's account.
Based on the information provided at the time of application, the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan will compile the results of its inquiry with each financial institution into a "相続時照会結果通知書 - Notice of Inquiry Results at the Time of Inheritance" and send it to the heirs or the heir's representative, etc., by postal mail.For inquiries, please visit the "Individual Number Card (My Number Card) General Information Website".

- Financial institutions may use the customer's Individual Number (My Number) and other information to make inquiries to the Local Government Information System Organization in order to maintain accurate and up-to-date identification details and the Individual Number (My Number) of the deposit account.
Initial application/changes/cancellation the Public Money Receiving Account
The Public Money Receiving Account Registration System is a system to register your deposit account information with the national government (Digital Agency) in advance to receive benefits such as pensions and child allowances, along with your Individual Number (My Number). Once registered, when you apply for emergency benefits, etc., you will be able to receive your benefits, etc., promptly, without having to fill in your account information on the application form or submit documents in the future.
